No Hotels In Italy

We're going to organize the September trip to Italy entirely through Vacation Rentals By Owner. It's an amazing website - vrbo.com - that offers condos, apartments and houses all over the world. We've reserved places in Rome and Florence so far. Next in the Rimini area on the Adriatic coast and in Venice. If you're thinking of vacationing for more than a few days anywhere, particularly, with others who are sharing costs, a vrbo place is often less than the travelers getting individual hotel rooms.

What Jesus Didn't Say

I was at a dinner party the other night at which a hardcore Fox News Geek was lecturing me about the BP oil spill. He asserted that the spill was caused entirely by environmentalists who prevent on-shore drilling in America, thereby forcing the oil companies to do more difficult offshore drilling. I asked if BP has any responsibility in all of this. He said, "None." Then he moved on to Obama and progressives, saying that the country is being ruined by efforts to care for people from womb to tomb. He said, "It's like Jesus said. Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to..." I cut him off by saying Jesus never said that. "Yes he did. Everybody knows that." I walked away and immediately pulled out my iPhone to search the quote. Well, it's generally attributed to Maimondes. But it also shows as an old Chinese proverb. I considered verbally kicking his ass about the quote and his other absurd assertions, but knowing that Fox News Geeks accept no new information that contradicts their already-held beliefs, I said nothing.
